As part of the BTS IT Integrated Controls & Compliance team, primary responsibility is to focus on data privacy. This includes driving IT business support, audit, compliance readiness and monitoring activities as it relates to privacy laws and regulations. Continuously seeks improvements in Abbott data privacy controls and provides guidance and support. Experience includes U.S. privacy laws, California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), performing a HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) audit and working with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Responsible for controls management of the Strategic Service Providers ensuring that all relevant controls are defined, implemented and monitored at Abbott and within the Service Providers in accordance with contractual terms. Represent the Quality & Regulatory Compliance organization at the bi-weekly Strategic Management Office governance meetings for all Strategic Service Providers.
Systematically evaluate and improve effectiveness of risk management, IT controls and governance process through a disciplined approach of performing Abbott internal audits to ensure compliance with Standards, as well as performing onsite supplier audits. Performed role of lead auditor or co-auditor on 14 audits, most significant was lead auditor role (of 3 co-auditors including my manager) for a supplier audit in Bangalore India in May 2015.
Primary responsibility to implement projects within the organization that supports the global clinical services group; which provides focus and infrastructure to the worldwide clinical research community in Abbott. Lead business project manager on the investigator portal and essential document tracking and management portal project. The portal project will deliver a web portal that will provide the hub for the electronic exchange of key information including the documents that are required to conduct clinical trials.
Work with Legal and privacy team leads to set strategic vision and direction for global privacy initiative. Provide subject matter expertise, leadership and program management to support functional areas, divisions, Office of Ethics & Compliance; Compliance and other teams/commitees for privacy and data security matters. Help identify, review and analyze new laws, regulations and guidelines and to close any gaps identified. Also, fulfill operational responsibilities as documented in other standards.
Lead and manage a team for IT Quality & Compliance; Security vendor audits. Manage two employees and provide subject matter expertise for internal quality audits. Provide IT audit review services for systems and applications and track issues to completion. Serve as a consultant to management in compnay planning concerning new or porected areas of compliance or risk. Conducted IT security audits of Cognizant facility in Chennai, India and Accenture facility in Bangalore, India.
