The Senior Surgical Navigator Supply Chain is a highly organized and results-driven healthcare professional with extensive knowledge of the operating room and supply chain operations. This role serves as a trusted subject matter expert, collaborating with surgeons, staff, and supply chain partners to achieve shared success. The Senior Surgical Navigator Supply Chain advises on operational improvements, cost containment, preference card development, and supply utilization, supporting initiatives that enhance quality, efficiency, and resource optimization. - Round daily in the operating room to communicate with surgeons and staff, ensuring real-time updates to preference cards and accurate case preparation. -Collaborate with Clinical Coordinators and Supply Chain teams to maintain, optimize, and standardize preference cards and supply utilization. -Possess advanced knowledge of surgical products, instruments, and equipment, ensuring their appropriate application in the OR setting. -Lead or participate in projects and workgroups that improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and achieve cost savings. -Facilitate supplier and vendor product trials and conversions in partnership with surgeons, OR staff, and Supply Chain teams. -Serve as a mentor and trainer for new and existing Surgical Navigators, supporting onboarding and continuous learning.. -Collect, analyze, and maintain data to track progress on key initiatives, supporting leadership with insights for ongoing process improvement. -Act as a liaison between clinical teams and Supply Chain to ensure alignment of quality, safety, and resource stewardship goals.
Assists in the development, implementation and communication of sustained quality and resource-optimized measures, during the intraoperative phase. Advises the management team in the Surgical and Supply Chain departments on operational improvement, cost containment, preference card development and supply utilization. Knowledge of supply chain movement and intraoperative clinical experience as well as strong communication skills and leadership abilities. Rounds daily in the OR to communicate with surgeons/staff and obtain all updates to preference cards. Works collaboratively with Clinical Coordinators to maintain and update all preference cards. Maintains direct communication with surgeons and coordinators/leads of specialty lines, staff. Works with appropriate stakeholders to define resources for cases. Works directly with surgery and supply chain to identify over- or under-used items after cases, for opportunities to decrease waste. Identifies cost effective materials/supplies, and, works with supply chain, OR director and coordinators, to develop and implement plans to change where applicable. Reviews the surgical schedule; collaborates with Clinical Coordinators to ensure appropriate cards are updated so Supply Chain/SPD/Pharmacy/OR have resources available. Facilitates supplier/vendor changes that result in new or substitute prodcuts. Work with supply chain, vendors, surgeons and OR staff to coordinate new product trials and conversion efforts in a logical manner. Maintain a progress record pertaining to core activities for reporting and facilitating system-wide improvements.
