About

My work is born from a simple idea: Success in business starts with seeing better. Every business is shaped by what it sees, what they notice before others, what they question before it becomes expensive, what they choose before the world chooses for them. In a world where the pace and depth of change is almost painfully fast, competitive advantage increasingly depends on this cognitive advantage: the ability to know where to look, what to question, and how to turn what you find into better choices. That is the work of strategic sight and it’s business critical. It helps leaders reduce blindspots, challenge weak assumptions early, and see value others miss, so they can keep creating value others do not. The Seven Strategic Sights are my way of doing that. They help leaders and teams look at the business more fully so they can make better choices. - When looking back, what lessons should we learn? - When looking forward, what potential futures do we predict? - When looking inwards, what is our unique theory of value? - When looking outward, what do we need for that theory to grow? - When looking across, how do we organise ourselves to deliver? - When looking at change, how do we sense, shape and seize? - What makes us special if we look beyond the logical and obvious? Miss any one of these and you miss something very important, use them all and the result is as one of my clients kindly explained: “We came in quite uncertain. We left with clarity, conviction and confidence. You can’t ask for much more than that.” Clarity about what is really going on. Conviction about what needs to be done. Confidence to move forward. My work is usually a combination of three areas: Business: strategic clarity What should be built, changed, prioritised, protected or stopped? Brand: distinctive meaning How should the value be framed, understood and made distinctive? Marketing: commercial expression How should that value become visible, desirable and commercially effective? The earlier the work is done, the more it compounds. The more strategic sight there is in the business, the more distinctive the brand can become. The more distinctive the brand becomes, the more effective the marketing can be. And marketing works hardest when it carries a truth the business can actually deliver.
