I work on interdisciplinary research projects on health impacts and co-benefits of climate adaptation and mitigation
I advise customers on soil contamination, from quotation to report. Here I: - Set up soil investigations and write reports - Keep an overview of multiple simultaneous projects - Ensure smooth contact with customers
My research focused on the effect of contrasting sustainable forest policies on land use in Europe and its consequences on ecosystem services. To achieve this, I improved the land system model of Europe from the institute and I created a forest management map of Europe. In addition, I also had the following tasks for the department: - Organising the weekly journal club for the whole department, to improve writing and reading skills - Organising a weekly PhD discussion/writing group, to improve collaboration within the group - Ensuring that the department website is up-to-date, so our data is easier to find
In collaboration with World Bank, I simulated the effects of management decisions on land use in Brazil using DynaCLUE. I learned how to apply this land use model in a short time.
I was responsible for maintaining the GIS project and keeping it up-to-date, which enabled BHM Solar to find the best spots for solar fields. Other responsibilities included: - Scouting municipalities for locations for solar fields using GIS - Helping with administrative work - Analysing local sustainable energy strategies and policies to find building restrictions
I coached an interdisciplinary team of students that aimed to help Hydrosynergia with the creation of a disruptive market strategy. This company is trying to bring a more water efficient method of lithium mining to the market. I was responsible for: - Helping and motivating the team - Communication between the team, the project partner (Hydrosynergia) and Academics for Development -Providing the team with crucial information for the project
