A better future for children in South African's townships and rural areas Computers (including the access to internet) are powerful teaching aids. By making use of them, the affiliated non-fee schools in the townships and rural areas of South-Africa can accelerate the education of their children and thus perk up the perspective of the communities for a better future. • PCs are essential for learning and communication; • Computers enable schools to download curriculum material from the internet and to use CD’s instead of textbook; • Knowledge of computing dramatically improves employment prospect of the students. • Administrative tasks (like keeping files and registers of learners) can become much easier and more effective. While end-of-life computers are of little value in the Netherlands and Belgium, they are a cherished commodity in South Africa, where their lifespan can be increased by several years. Computers for Africa collects surplus computers (PCs, tablets and laptops) in these countries. Via our local partners in South Africa, the Bitou 10 Foundation Click Foundation, we refurbish them and distribute them for re-use to the non-fee schools. We are committed to the delivery of the highest quality refurbished computers to the recipient school partners of the Bitou 10 Foundation and the training of the teachers.
