I am a researcher and organizer in climate justice, land reform, labor, housing justice, and prison abolition movements, with seven years of experience spanning environmental and social science research, policy analysis, legal research, geospatial data analysis, strategic communications, grassroots organizing, political campaigns, and program design and implementation. Currently advancing food systems transformation and land reform through community-based research and teaching. Research and career interests in anti-extractivist approaches to renewable energy development, agrarian and land reform, the assetization of land and infrastructure, and alternatives to corporate agriculture and food distribution systems.
Conduct landownership research and provide mapping services for farmworker, indigenous, and urban agriculture movements in California to advance agroecology and land reform. Coordinate direct food purchasing programs to connect organized consumer bases with coalitions of small farmers, moving $65,000 in 20 weeks and serving 300+ consumers. Execute a seasonal menu on a combined hot and cold line for breakfast and lunch service independently or with the head chef. Plan and execute prep lists for the entire menu, set up and break down station, track inventory.
Worked as a kitchen manager in a 45-person, social justice focused cooperative house. Managed a $45,000 kitchen budget and led food purchasing. Redesigned food sourcing to prioritize locally grown, organic, sustainable produce and building relationships with worker/farmer owned providers, channeling university resources away from food distribution giants and towards local small farmers. Previously was a community manager, supporting collective living by organizing community events, facilitating consensus based decision making, and stewarding a collaborative house culture.
Supported community-engaged Spanish language learning as a teaching assistant for a second year Spanish course focused on co-learning with high school heritage speakers in East Palo Alto. Provided one on one and group language help, designed lesson plans, and assisted with administrative tasks.
