“Eechaut portrays her characters at ‘in between moments’ – she has an uncanny ability to capture those moments when her subjects seem to forget they are being looked at. Her images are devoid of subjective presence; the portrayed subjects have no face, they turn away from the observer. Landscapes remain empty and deserted. They are images of absence, illustrating the fact that really, we are alone, and hard-won contact between subjects is temporary and fleeting. Yet, within the emptiness indeed remains the possibility of contact. Her photography leaves us with an opportunity for us to reach out, to fulfill our ultimate desire – establishing an honest connection with others.” Thomas Caron, curator.
