“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson I am a dedicated educator with experience spanning both school leadership and education policy work, driven by a strong belief in inclusive, meaningful, and future-ready education. In my current role as Subject Head (Science), I focus on curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment design, working closely with teachers to strengthen teaching and learning through e-pedagogy, emerging technologies such as AI, and purposeful use of flexible learning spaces. Over the past two years, I also had the opportunity to serve as an officer at the Engagement and Research Division, Communication and Engagement Group (ERD, CEG) at the Ministry of Education. My work centred on strengthening school–home partnerships and stakeholder engagement across Singapore’s education landscape. Across both school-based and system-level roles, I am motivated by developing people, bridging perspectives, and translating intent into practice — always with students and partnerships at the heart of the work.
As Subject Head (Science), I lead the Sec 1 Science team in curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment design, with a focus on student-centred learning. This includes intentionally integrating e-pedagogy, leveraging AI to support teaching and learning, and designing lessons that make purposeful use of flexible classroom furniture to enhance collaboration, engagement, and conceptual understanding. I also contribute to whole-school initiatives, including supporting the establishment of the Parent Support Group at Anchorvale Campus and the organisation of the school’s 120th Speech Day, strengthening school–home partnerships and school culture.
As a senior manager at the Engagement and Research Division, Communication and Engagement Group of the Ministry of Education, I focused on initiatives to strengthen school-home partnership and stakeholder engagement across Singapore's education landscape. More about my experience in this 2-year stint: • Led a team which looks into programmes for educators ranging from beginning teachers to senior management in schools - to build educators' capabilities in parent engagement and stakeholder management • Provided support to Political Officer Holders and senior leadership during school visits and engagement sessions across mainstream and Special Education (SPED) schools, gaining deep insights into diverse educational contexts • Involved in inter-division work and supported in various work pieces through aligning different perspectives to achieve policy objectives • Established and maintained strong networks with ground officers to gather feedback on policy implementation, enabling evidence-based refinements to educational initiatives and resources
Over the past 5 years, I've been a dedicated educator with a teaching experience that encompasses Biology, Project Work, Lower Sec Math and Science. Continual Professional Development I've actively pursued professional development opportunities in differentiated instruction (DI) and e-pedagogy, as part of the SkillsFuture for Educators framework. I've not only honed my skills but also applied them in my classes, enhancing my students' learning experiences. Sharing Expertise & Leadership In 2022, I had the privilege of presenting at St Hilda's Secondary School's Professional Development Day, where I shared insights on DI and my school's journey in this area. Additionally, I contributed to the NLC for Implementing DI, achieving the SFED Accomplished Level. My collaboration with the master teachers at the AST in planning and implementing adaptive DI strategies has enriched my teaching journey. Innovations in School Engagement I played a pivotal role in launching our school's social media platforms, amassing over 1000 followers and more than 160 posts. This elevated our school's public profile, providing a platform to showcase our exceptional work. Student Mentorship and Community Engagement I introduced the Peer Support Student Mentor framework, enabling experienced Peer Support Leaders to mentor new ones. These mentors also spearheaded school-wide pastoral care events, such as "Incredible Ice Cream Insanity" and "Mega Milo Madness", leaving a lasting impact on students' school experiences. Community Involvement As the 2IC of the VIA Committee (2021-2022) and the Community Youth Leaders Club (2022-2023), I've worked closely with various beneficiaries in our neighborhood. Through our engagement sessions, we hope to foster empathy and love within our community. I believe in the power of education, innovation, and community engagement, and I'm eager to connect with professionals who share a similar passion for making a positive impact.
During my teaching internship at CHIJ St. Joseph's Convent (SJC), I had the privilege of teaching upper secondary biology and lower secondary mathematics classes. Additionally, I was attached to my mentor for co-curricular activities (CCA) and form teacher (FT) duties, gaining valuable insights into the responsibilities of a volleyball CCA teacher. This experience not only enhanced my teaching proficiency but also broadened my understanding of the multifaceted role educators play in students' lives beyond the classroom.
As a temporary staff at the self-employed division, my main role involved replying emails and answering call enquiries regarding matters related to the tax-filing season that year.
