My PhD focused on investigating the role of parasites and environmental variables on the invasive success of eastern mosquitofish in Europe to aid in identifying effective management strategies for this species and conservation actions of native threatened biota such as Mediterranean killifish. Duties included writing research grants and risk-assessment reports, conducting meta-analysis, managing funding and invoices, obtaining permits, establishing new collaborations, organising and carrying out lab work and extensive fieldwork in Italy involving fish capture, maintenance and behavioural trials (2D video animations, mate choice, lateralization, feeding and competition), supervising students, publications and presenting results at domestic and international scientific conferences.
