I bridge what people need and what emerging technology can responsibly deliver across R&D domains including AI, life sciences, and human spaceflight. I have 12 years of experience leading design, research, and product strategy in R&D and research organizations, shaping what's worth building and who it should serve. My background in physics and architecture allows me to work directly with researchers and engineers, incorporating the underlying science and human motivation into shipped products and experiences. I also teach design and prototyping at the University of Washington, where I focus on supporting early career designers interested in frontier research. Some of my work: • Co-founded Aurelia Institute, a non-profit space architecture lab, leading architectural and human-centered design for a 30-foot space habitat exhibition experienced by tens of thousands of people • Led UX for IBM's quantum IDE, scaling a research demo into a platform used by 300K+ people a year, and was granted a utility patent for the work • Designed genomics visualizations that made complex data accessible and interactive at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard • Led user research on an AI-enabled drug safety system built with a top-five pharmaceutical company I care most about novel work with a clear line to human impact. I build and maintain lifeinspace.org, an open resource distilling astronaut user research into design principles for future space environments, and volunteer with organizations like US Digital Response to connect design and technology with public benefit.
