Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India
I am an architectural educator and a Registered Architect with the Council of Architecture, India. I currently serve as Associate Professor of Architecture and Executive Dean (In-charge) at the Faculty of Architecture, Design & Planning, Ganpat University. My academic work focuses on architectural pedagogy, heritage documentation, and practice-based research, informed by sustained engagement with design studios, theory courses, and mentoring undergraduate design thesis students. I have over fifteen years of experience in architecture education, with research interests centred on the documentation and interpretation of built heritage, particularly lesser-studied forts, havelis, and historic urban fabric in Rajasthan and central India. My documentation of Fort Auwa, Piplia Fort, and selected havelis and streets of Udaipur has been published in the INTACH Heritage Awards publications, with the Piplia Fort documentation undertaken on invitation following recognition of my earlier work on Fort Auwa. I am presently engaged in the documentation and study of the Bateshwar Group of Temples, supported through an institutional seed grant; an exhibition of this documentation is currently open to the public at the Ganpat University campus. A parallel strand of my academic work engages with architectural education systems and curriculum frameworks, including the translation of global agendas such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals into architecture and design education. This has resulted in a comprehensive publication mapping SDGs to existing B.Arch. and B.Des. curricula, positioning contemporary global challenges as an integral part of architectural and design pedagogy. The publication is currently awaiting ISBN allocation and formal release. I regularly integrate exhibitions and full-scale installations into my pedagogy, particularly within documentation- and design-led studios. To date, I have conceived, curated, and guided numerous academic exhibitions and installations addressing spatial experimentation, architectural theory, and heritage documentation. This approach is informed by my participation in the 13th International Architecture Exhibition, Venice Architecture Biennale (2012). Alongside teaching and research, I engage with curriculum development, academic governance, and institutional coordination. I view architecture education as a systemic enterprise, grounded in architectural thinking, field-based inquiry, and spatial practice, with a continuing interest in how institutions shape, sustain, and transmit architectural knowledge over time.
