As someone who has a passion for journalism, public policy and social issues, I have acted on these motivations. I did so by obtaining a mass communications diploma from Temasek Polytechnic, and pursuing a Bachelor of Political Science at Singapore Management University. I also served as the Assistant News Editor at Temasek Polytechnic's campus newspaper, coming up with article pitches and translating them into print, while supervising a team of writers and curating the content to be published. Having been an avid newsreader since young, I was thrilled to have interned at The Business Times where I honed my journalistic skills, successfully churning out quality articles quickly. Similarly due to my interest in social issues, my internship at the Ministry of Social and Family Development opened my eyes to the crucial work done by the public service and gave me a glimpse into the challenges faced by the less privileged. ● Assisted in the transition to a new digital system, which reduced processing time by half (from 3 weeks to 1.5 weeks) ● Performed audit reviews of submitted financial documents under the Deputyship system to assess the appropriateness and legitimacy of expenditures, ensuring caregivers did not misuse or divert the finances of vulnerable individuals for personal gain, and providing recommendations for approval or rejection.
