From the college classroom to the great outdoors, I have dedicated myself to working with and for youth in the outdoors. I have traveled to all parts of Ohio for outdoor education opportunities; including some time in Colorado with the YMCA of the Rockies. I now serve as a District Executive for the Simon Kenton Council and Scouting America. I work to support volunteers and promote opportunities in scouting to youth/parents.
I provide support and resources to our scouting volunteers from Reynoldsburg down to Athens. I work them to provide programming, membership, and growth opportunities to our scout packs and troops.
Constructing and planning outdoor environmental programs for Boardman school communities and the general public. I developed the content and structure for all programs between sfter-school, weeklong, and in-school programs. The main activities included hiking, creeking, and learning about forest dynamics throughout Mill Creek Park.
• Leading groups around site on hikes and recreational activities • Teaching children about environmental topics such as Forest Ecology and Water Ecology • Providing supplemental programming for groups • Running programs for guests; including, Archery, Climbing, Hiking, and Tubing • I would provide 2-hour lessons that followed Colorado teaching standards via science, site-history, and teambuilding
• I programmed and managed three programs across 12 weeks of summer camp: Taste of Kern, First Camp, and Sunrise • Programs consisted of campers aged around 5 to 10 years old and averaged near 30 campers on a weekly basis • I managed and communicated with an average of 5 to 7 counselors weekly across camp • I ran activities and planned events for campers, ranging from climbing to arts and crafts • I also belayed high rope activities and filed paperwork for incidents • I would communicate with parents on updates regarding their camper via phone and in-person • I also solely built and managed the brand new day camper program for the YMCA Camp Kern; the Sunrise Camp
• I have planned various camps; examples include Forest Friends, Puddle Jumpers, and Nature Detectives • I coordinated activities for children ranging from ages 5 to 15 • I performed basic first aid and reported injuries • Conducting hikes around the Glen Helen Nature Preserve with five or more children • I am handling educational animals of various types, snakes, turtles, birds, crayfish, and insects • I understand the essential identification and removal of invasive species • Hands-on duties include building cleanliness, construction, composting, and kindling collection.
