Job Description: • Reviews wiring diagrams and work order or examines sample coil to ascertain type and size of wire specified, and type, size, length, circumference and primary and secondary windings of coil to be wound. • Inspect various kinds of electrical-mechanical equipment for damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions. • Test conditions of windings according to company standards. • Dismantle and/or strip damaged or unserviceable electro-mechanical equipment. • Clean electric motors by means of stripping, pressure washing and sandblasting. • Prepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusual conditions. • Rewind various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment including but not limited to: single-phase, three phase, DC fields, armatures, wound rotors. • Observe proper insulating techniques and/or requirements during rewinding. • Test rewound electro-mechanical equipment according to company standards and document test results. • Operate specialized repair and testing equipment including winding machines, test panels, surge testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, bake ovens, grinders, cranes, brazing units, dip tanks, VPI systems and various hand power and non-power tools. • Wraps insulation between layers and around wound coil or inserts plastic Blocks between turns to form cooling ducts. Cuts wire to form leads. • Pounds coil with hammer or mallet to shape end windings or remove coil from fixtures. Winds cotton, glass mica, paper or tape around coil and brushes varnish on coil or dips coil in varnish, epoxy or wax to reinforce and seal coil. • Preformed Coils for Motors, Generators All typesof Enameled, Insulation & Paper covered round/ rectangular Conductors Rewinding of motor .75HP to 13.8 kv 3. Rewinding of Turbine Rotor and Stator motor/ Generator/ Compressor Motor.
Job Description: Assembles and tests electric motor and generator stators, armatures, or rotors: Inspects cores for defects and aligns laminations, using hammer and drift. Files burrs from core slots, using hand file, portable power file, and scraper. Lines slots with sheet insulation and inserts coils into slots. Cuts, strips, and bends wire leads at ends of coils, using pliers and wire scrapers. Twists leads together to connect coils. Taps coil and end windings to shape, using hammer and fiber block. Tests windings for motor-housing clearance, grounds, and short circuits, using clearance gauge, growler, spring-steel blade, insulation tester, and Resistance Bridge. Winds new coils on armatures, stators, or rotors of used motors and generators.
