Hardworking and passionate professional working in Higher Education with a focus in Student Affairs. As a First-Generation Student, Sam emphasizes the challenges of juggling work commitments and school requirements throughout the semester. Currently, Sam is in the midst of her Master’s of Social Work at St. Joseph’s University and is projected to graduate in May of 2027. In her present role, Sam is a Job Advisor at Suffolk County Community College, in the Career Services department. This role has been a great way for Sam to connect back to her community, and truly is a full circle moment from her alma mater. At Suffolk, Sam's role focuses on students pursuing associate of applied science degrees and assisting them in the transition to the workforce through programming and planning. Sam works closely with non-traditional students from low income backgrounds, many who are neuro divergent, veterans, or parents. Using organizational skills and collaborative initiatives Sam coordinates and schedules workshops for students regarding career readiness. Sam is comfortable presenting to diverse audiences, both in-person and virtually, and has received very positive feedback on her engaging and informative training style.
-Perform career presentations to engage students pursuing an associate degree -Collaborate with faculty in AAS areas (Engineering, Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology, Radio and Television Production, Construction/Architectural Technology, and Cybersecurity) -Teach students about the job search process and necessary skills to ace an interview Advise and revise resumes for students -Perform outreach initiatives by tabling across campus to promote upcoming events and increase involvement -Execute and host programs to encourage career advancement (i.e. Fashion Show, Career Fair, Automotive Job Fair) -Create all social media content for the office, including creating marketing and promotional materials
Training Coordinator- Oversee all the training for all positions, this also includes screening applications, conducting interviews and new hire orientations. In addition, hosting monthly training sessions with trainers, and front of house employees. New Store Opening Trainer- Travel to out of state Texas Roadhouse locations and help train their new staff. Educate and assist with menu knowledge, learning culture, and polices/procedures. Closing Key Manager- Manage over 40-50 employees over the course of one shift. While also performing financial transactions, and handling all guests complaints and concerns.
