As the sole DevOps engineer at KHWS, I played a pivotal role in transitioning from TeamCity & Octopus to Azure DevOps, consolidating the CI/CD pipelines to streamline and automate the deployment process. Working closely with developers and the project manager, I ensured seamless integration and timely delivery of solutions across the team. I was responsible for hands-on management of Azure-based cloud infrastructure, focusing on scalability, automation, and the implementation of security policies, authentication methods, and infrastructure-as-code. In addition, I led the integration of security into the software development lifecycle, utilising tools such as SonarQube, White Source Bolt, and OWASP ZAP to proactively identify and resolve vulnerabilities in the codebase. Designed and deployed observability solutions using New Relic, and Azure Monitor, significantly enhancing risk awareness, improving application performance, and ensuring compliance.
I contributed to the implementation of a microservices-based structure for a patient portal application, built on .NET Core. I deployed applications via Azure App Services, integrating Application Insights and custom metrics for enhanced monitoring of system performance. I managed Azure subscriptions, driving compliance and optimising costs across the environment. Additionally, I worked closely with the client to provide expert guidance on various aspects of their Azure deployment, leveraging tools such as ARM templates, PowerShell, and Terraform to streamline infrastructure management and enhance scalability.
