Providing support to students through individual tutoring and facilitated group studies, and helping them grow confident in Rstudio coding and environmental data visualization and analysis.
Collected canopy cover, leaf litter, and leaf change data for Professor Heather Kropp's peri-urban forest research project.
-Collaborated with other student researchers for 10 weeks at Salisbury University to develop and train a joint change detection and land cover classification model, which leverages NASA's UAVSAR imagery to generate a real-time map that outlines flooded regions and defines land cover types within those regions. This thematic map ultimately informs the quantity and type of resources needed, as well as in which locations their allocation should be prioritized within a broader region impacted by a hurricane or flood event, maximizing the effectiveness of disaster relief efforts during and post-flood events. -Wrote and presented a series of progress reports with my group, culminating in a final project write-up and presentation of results.
-Collected canopy cover, precipitation, soil moisture data for Professor Heather Kropp's peri-urban forest research project. -Analyzed and visualized data using R coding. -Georeferenced historical imagery of Hamilton College using ArcGIS. -Synthesized data and results in a cohesive poster, which I presented in the Summer Research Poster Session at Hamilton College.
