Development of an unique parking brake system for a final mile delivery cargo trike. Successfully took a basic concept and developed it into a fully functioning prototype that retrofitted onto existing production trikes. Key responsibilities: • Developing innovative solutions to design challenges for mechanical, electronic and software elements of the project. • Running of design review sessions (DFMEA) to assess and mitigate potential risks linked to the design. • Design and fabrication of a test rig for rapid iteration and development. • Project management. • Reporting to seniors for weekly progress updates. • Presented details of the final design and prototype at the end of the internship.
A broad experience in design and manufacture gained through work in a small-scale precision engineering firm between academic term times, gaining comprehension of core engineering practices and principles that has helped to boost my ability to tackle real world engineering problems. Working mainly on CNC milling centres. Key responsibilities: • Application and understanding of design for manufacture, significantly with milling and turning procedures. • Working to order deadlines and taking complete responsibility of part procedures. • Application of CAD/CAM with real world parts from a range of industries. • Practical understanding of technical drawings and tolerances. • Operation of CNC mills, CMM machines, lathes and other general workshop tools.
