- Writing, designing and editing blogs, briefings, social media campaigns, newsletters, reports and dashboards using a range of creative applications, Microsoft Office programmes and social media channels. - Advising on and contributing to company communications and narratives from high-level engagement, briefings, communications planning to social media drafts. - Developing content schedules and wider strategic communications plans for a high-profile environmental regulator. - Promoting environmental regulation and the work of the Environment Agency to the public and key stakeholders.
- Managed a committee of 9 executive members to deliver public speaking workshops, collaborative events, open-mics, guest speaker presentations, social mixers and competitions. - Co-wrote the society's first Welfare and Inclusivity Handbook and implemented its policy recommendations to ensure that all members can find their voice. - Drafted and implemented an updated society Constitution to expand our focus on outreach, inclusivity, and change the society's voting system. - Participated in the judging panel for the 'advanced' category during our term 1 internal competition and provided feedback on speeches.
- Organised and hosted the 2024 inter-university competition, bringing together 20+ contestants from universities including Sheffield, QMUL, UCL, Nottingham, Coventry and more. - Organised and hosted two internal public speaking competitions and drove record participation through an assertive marketing strategy. - Coordinated with the Social Secretary to organise and host two open-mic nights. - Worked alongside the rest of the exec team to deliver public speaking workshops throughout the year.
- Worked with a team of volunteers to deliver a simulated UN climate conference, helping participants understand climate policy and negotiation in an inclusive, interactive format. - Co-designed and ran an interactive workshop on international advocacy and critical reflections on climate politics. - Guided delegates through UN-style negotiation, international legal writing, and public speaking to achieve a final draft treaty text and climate outcome summary.
- 12-week internship with the HS2 Core Team focused on administrative support, project management, internal communications, and skills development. - Project managed, drafted and presented a major "Lessons Learnt" project - facilitating 1-on-1s, group feedback sessions and leading team-wide workshops to review our processes and gain insights. Input from 20+ team members including information from technical (water quality, groundwater, Water Framework Directive, waste and material reuse), and administrative roles (project and programme management) was integrated, with an executive summary provided. - Assisted team members with administration needs including database use, GIS mapping, and permitting support. - Conducted on-site work by shadowing the compliance team, providing advice and guidance to contractors on regulatory requirements and monitoring progress along the HS2 line. - Returned to deliver a presentation in October 2023 to the Major Project Technical Group on how to ensure efficacy and ongoing value for "Lessons Learnt" projects and answer questions on methodology.
Prepared and delivered weekly in-person academic sessions to groups of Year 10 students. Also answered queries about university applications and career progression.
