We run a free helpline that provides employment support to over 100 callers a week. The Company has had multiple cases reported on and helped establish important employment law precedent such as in the case of De Was v Solly's Freight (1987) Ltd [2020] NZERA 285. My role involved: - Scaling and managing the team from two Christchurch based co-founders to a 10+ strong team based across New Zealand - Sourcing and building our IT infrastructure - Establishing and directing our digital marketing efforts
I was an employment law advocate with a focus on helping employees in disputes. I dealt with a wide range of employment issues from 90 day trial period dismissals to medical incapacity scenarios. I settled multiple cases through informal settlements, mediations, and preliminary ERA matters. A personal highlight was securing a $70,000 exit package for a single client going through a redundancy process against a large multinational company.
- Advised on several transactions ranging from bond issuances to invoice finance facilities. - Led Board administration for an international Board with high profile members such as the Chair of the XRB and a former CRO of a big four NZ Bank. This involved administration matters ranging from drafting resolutions to advising the Board on a range of company law matters. - Led the legal execution of a capital raise. - Led several compliance work streams. - Lead author on several government submissions. - Led stakeholder engagements with several law firms.
I worked under General Counsel Ross Pennington (Banking and Finance Band 1, Chambers and Partners 2021). I structure and execute transactions, assist product owners and the tech team, and take care of BAU legal work.
