I’ve spent the last twenty one years as a Head Coach and Program Director for two different small college rowing programs. In that time I’ve led high functioning teams and award winning staff, managed budgets, facilities, and equipment, and had a great career educating and developing future leaders. I also had the opportunity to found and manage a small nonprofit, lead a six-year long, four agency dock permitting and construction project, direct the largest collegiate regatta on the West Coast, and serve on public advocacy and government advisory groups. After a lot of thought I decided to change my career path. I earned my Project Management Professional certification, enrolled in the MBA in Nonprofit Management at University of Portland, and worked a short stint as the Development Manger at the Deschutes River Alliance. I'm looking forward to a future working in nonprofit development, operations, and leadership with a focus on making the world a better place for the next generation.
• Led the creation of a new nonprofit, navigating contentious negotiations to establish operating agreements and bylaws. • Successfully obtained nonprofit status by writing and submitting the 501(c)(3) application. • Managed a six-year project to secure federal, state, and city permits, fund, repair, and relocate the Oaks Park dock.
• Organized and oversaw all aspects of the largest Collegiate Regatta on the west coast with 950+ participants. • Managed membership and entries, worked with venue host and media providers, and enforced regatta bylaws. • Served as the primary on-site point-of-contact for the two-day event.
Online instructor for the USRowing “Level 2” foundation level coaching education course. Teach modules on Coaching Philosophy, Teaching & Learning, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Safety, and more. Serve as a small group discussion facilitator and large group instructor.
• Lead for execution of 225-person Annual Gathering and Auction, working with vendors, volunteers, and donors to execute on $300k+ fundraising event. Ran procurement and packaging for online and in-person auction, developed website, publications and social media, and successfully executed day-of-event with a 9% increase on revenue from the prior year. • Managed all fundraising activities, including direct donor contacts, solicitation, and stewardship, updated and leveraged CRM, and end-of-year campaign. • Developed Relationships with donors, community members, businesses, and independent contractors to build fundraising capacity and community support. • Organized and executed donor and community events including major donor gatherings and community-building events.
