I am truly passionate about my job because it gives something new to learn every day about satellite communications and satellite frequency coordination in the light of ITU Radio Regulations.
* Submission of Satellite Filings of Pakistan to ITU on behalf of Government of Pakistan for obtaining the internationally recognized frequency assignments and associated orbital slots. * Technical analysis of the biweekly ITU International frequency information Circulars (IFICs) containing data on frequency assignments of foreign satellite networks for evaluation of their impact/ possibility of interference into the satellite & terrestrial networks of Pakistan. * Preparation of formal drafts/ comments for forwarding objections/ concerns of Administration of Pakistan to ITU and the concerned foreign administrations regarding potential interference/ threats from foreign satellite networks into the satellite/ terrestrial networks of Pakistan in accordance with the relevant Provisions of ITU Radio Regulations. * Formulation of responses against the concerns/ objections of foreign administrations/ satellite operators regarding the issues of interference between PAK and foreign satellite networks and negotiating with concerned admins (in collaboration with national satellite operator) in order to reach at mutually acceptable solutions/ conclude agreements of frequency coordination. * Coordination with neighboring countries in respect of potential issues related to cross border interference/ spillover of radio signals of terrestrial networks.
• Spectrum Monitoring and measurements of technical characteristics of Radio Frequency bands from VLF to SHF, Microwave and Satellite communication services • Carry out pre-license and post-license granting conformity surveys • Verify the compatibility and the interference free use of authorized emissions, to detect and identify the origin of interference and to resolve them • Detect and identify unauthorized transmissions • Study RF interference reports, planning & implementation of monitoring procedures for interference analysis and recommend necessary measures to resolve the same • Determine channel and band usage, including assessment of channel availability • Well experienced on spectrum monitoring equipment (e.g., Rohde & Schwarz, Agilent, Miteq, etc) for reception and direction finding • Tasking and performing field surveys, weekly/monthly spectrum monitoring orders • Preparation, documentation and submission of weekly monitoring reports including spectrum occupancy measurements, authenticity of users to the authority • To carryout necessary coordination with Law Enforcement Agencies • Well experienced with operation & maintenance of monitoring and testing equipment/tools including Receivers, Antennas, Spectrum Analyzers, Direction Finder etc
