Based at the neurology/ acute stroke units as part of the PhD project. Duties included conducting literature and systematic reviews, meta-analysis of review findings, designing a longitudinal prospective cohort study, applying for the NHS ethics application and liaising with NHS Trust R&D departments, study setup and administration at different NHS sites, interacting with patients, their families and staff members, taking the patient's medical history, using clinical notes to determine diagnosis at admission via CT/ MRI scans, conducting clinical assessments at baseline and at subsequent follow up visits, collecting/ analysing study data and preparing study findings for publications.
Based at the neurology/ elderly medicine department as part of the MSc research project. Duties included study administration, submitting ethics application amendments, interacting with patients, handling equipment such as cerebral oximetry and transcranial Doppler, conducting clinical assessments and computerised cognitive exams, collecting/ analysing study data and statistical analysis of drug trial data.
As part of the pre-clinical special projects group within the Histopathology department. My duties covered a wide range of cellular pathology functions with a specific focus on; compound-specific and non-standard tissue (parenteral) dosing, tissue collection and examination, empirical special staining, histochemistry, cryotomy, tissue preparation for TEM, neuropathology, resin histology, image analysis, manual and automated histomorphometry, polarising and fluorescence microscopy and germ cell staging.
