I specialise in infrastructure and regulatory finance. I have experience of advising the C-suite and boards of companies, regulatory authorities and infrastructure funds on a range of issues including nuclear energy, RAB regulation, valuations, cost of capital, debt strategy, investment returns analysis, financial modelling, hydrogen, buy/sell side regulatory due diligence and State aid. I have deep expertise in regulatory finance and policy matters and have led projects advising some of the largest companies in UK and Europe including National Grid, AdR, EdF, Southern Water, Thames Water, BT, Cadent, Centrica and Heathrow Airport. I am passionate about nuclear energy and have advised on a wide range of issues to European nuclear clients including EdF (Hinkley Point C, Sizewell B&C, UK), CEZ (EDU II, Czechia), Belgian Govt. (Tihange 3 & Doel 4, Belgium). I have also appeared as an expert witness in regulatory appeals on cost of capital issues. Current interests: 1) Water utilities - (a) advising on the recapitalisation of a major UK WaSC; (b) led the valuation analysis to shareholders to inform the recapitalisation of a UK WoC. 2) Utility regulation - Leading the advice to the Department of Energy (Abu Dhabi) on the RC3 price controls for the electricity and water sectors. 3) Nuclear energy - Advising a UK sponsor on the life extension of an existing nuclear power plant. 4) Gas storage - Advising Centrica on repurposing the Rough storage facility to meet the UK's storage needs. 5) UK CAA - leading the advice to the UK CAA on regulatory finance issues for the H8 price control.

Member of KPMG's Infrastructure Advisory Group (Deal Advisory) with a focus on the Power and Utilities sector. Led the advice to clients on a range of large infrastructure projects. Assets covered included new nuclear power plants, water networks, electricity distribution and transmission businesses, and private wire network. Key learning: The power of X-segment collaboration. First real big business I worked at and witnessed the strength that can be generated by numbers! Key experience: - Lead advisor to one of Europe's largest energy companies looking to develop a c. €6 billion new nuclear power plant. Led the advice on required equity returns and State aid; - Lead financial advisor to a UK local authority looking to enter into a joint venture to develop a c. £200m private wire network. Spearheaded the financial modelling, procurement process, bid evaluation and preferred bidder negotiations; - Advised a major UK electricity DNO on a range of corporate finance issues including its cost of debt; - Advised the board of a major UK water network on future strategy by undertaking an independent business review of the asset.
Worked in Oxera's Finance and Valuation practice with a focus on regulated utility businesses in the UK and Europe. Advised clients on corporate finance and regulatory issues involving cost of capital, financial modelling, regulatory and financial due diligence, and State aid. Key experience: Learnt a lot!
