Responsible for the technical management of five, 12-yr old geared bulk carriers and 18-yr old container vessel, along with successful dry docking of 2 geared bulk carriers in China shipyard, including the safe installation and operation of the new BWTS systems onboard in the shipyard. - Identified cause of failure of 12 Hoisting motors over ~9 mths on a particular vessel as poor quality of OEM motors, which caused repeated off hire of the ship. Supervised procurement and installation of the original motors by makers, along with a complete system analysis resulting in zero hours of off hire due to crane failures. - Supervised the transfer of a main engine lube oil pump electrical motor between two sister vessels at Beringovskii, North Russia. Avoided the vessel from getting off hire and losing charter, prevented possible ice damage to the vessel in north Russia during winters and avoided the need to tow the vessel to a safe location. Additionally directed both the ships to modify the couplings of the ballast pump and install them as an emergency backup motor. - Directed the HSEQ dept to overhaul the company SMS with critical requirements such as Min Lube oil bunkers and Min Fuel bunkers to be maintained on ship at all times and highlighted the shortfalls and implemented changes in the bunkering procedures and reports system. - Took the initiative, with the permission of the owners, to kick start implementation of PMS system at Blumenthal office and vessels.
- Led owners of new takeover vessel through a challenging negotiation with a H&M surveyor inspecting a damage claim of 3 generator crankshafts. Successfully proved coverage and ensured repairs and renewal expenses were born by H&M insurance, avoiding US$330k of expenses for the owner - Rectified the issue of remote operated grabs not closing completely during cargo operation to prevent the prolonged partial off hire of the vessel, by carrying out the required repairs and rectifying the issues in less than 6 hours. - Forged a relationship of trust with the ship owners of the vessels I managed and sailed on, by delivering a high quality of service along with an open and honest channel of communication with the ship owners, maintaining transparency and accountability. - Despite the negativity caused by the global pandemic, maintained a positive and healthy atmosphere onboard, encouraging the team to put in their best effort
- Successfully inducted 13 bulk carriers in a period of 30 days by enabling smooth execution of takeover procedures, implementation of the company SMS, issuance of the SMC, ISSC and MLC certificates by class well ahead of the stipulated date of take over. - As vessel manager for 4 ships, proactively identified issues and deployed resources to resolve them, such as expediting of required spares or application of timely dispensations, to prevent any detentions of the vessel by local authorities.
- Spearheaded the project on upgradation on the ship. The ship had an experience on detention by port state control authorities due to various defects with the vessel. - Cleared the Japanese coast guard inspection, overcoming the hurdle of communication about high level technical issues with the Japanese authorities where English language communication was limited. - Resolved various breakdowns and other issues on the cargo cranes without majorly impacting the cargo operations.
- Executed a successful takeover and management of five ships, driving growth of 37.5% (five vessels in Nov 2015 to eight vessels by May 2016) in less than six months. - Conceptualized and executed the reduction in the daily opex. of the vessel during long off-hire periods, maintaining the good will of the owner, yet keeping the levels of crew motivation high on the vessels. - Successfully mediated a dispute between a captain and the operator, following an undesired event, by driving the necessary analysis and investigation that protected the captain’s reputation and highlighted the deficiencies in supplied equipment.

- Took up a short contract to gain experience in Training, Development, Implementation and Management of the Planned Maintenance Software and its various modules with the focus on Requisition and Procurement chain. - Spearheaded the implementation of the new system onboard by conducting training of the shipboard crew, and taking initiative to develop easy to understand training manuals. - Took part in the brain storming session with the technical team. Suggested a solution to the problem of palm oil freezing and solidifying in the pipes during discharge in the cold weather conditions
