Non academic French Teacher. My point of view : Using a foreign language first means being able to enjoy a conversation and read some information. I am so respectul to all academic French teachers around the world. As I am unable to motivate students like they do so I've looked for another way. Pronounciation is important but loosing every part of your own native accent is not necessary since it belong to your own identity. Grammar is usefull but French grammar rules have too many exceptions. I would rather focus on common expressions and reusable sentence structures. Let's say this comes from my IT experience.
