About

For 25 years in orthopaedics, I’ve had a front-row seat to one of the biggest shifts in healthcare: The migration from inpatient to outpatient care—and the rise of the ASC. What I’ve come to believe is this: The ASC movement was never just about site of care. It’s about control. Control over clinical decision-making. Control over economics. Control over scheduling and lifestyle. Control over the future of a practice. My career inside major orthopaedic and medical device organizations gave me a unique vantage point into how healthcare systems, hospitals, private equity firms, and industry players think strategically about market positioning and influence. Over time, that perspective evolved into a deeper interest in helping surgeons and ASC leaders better understand how to maintain — and regain — control within their local markets. Today, I spend a lot of time thinking about: • Local ASC market dynamics and competitive positioning • Surgeon alignment, ownership, and autonomy • The evolving role of private equity and health systems • How digital presence and thought leadership are becoming strategic advantages • The operational and business levers that increasingly determine success Because clinical excellence alone is no longer enough. The surgeons and ASC leaders who understand incentives, positioning, relationships, and market dynamics are the ones most likely to thrive in the next decade of healthcare. I use this platform to share what I’m seeing in the market, what I’m learning from conversations with surgeons and leaders across the country, and where I think the ASC landscape is headed next. Always interested in thoughtful conversations around orthopaedics, ASCs, healthcare strategy, surgeon autonomy, and the future of outpatient care. Views expressed are my own—not representative of any organization or employer.
