Working within a busy Otolaryngology department. Duties include independent general ENT and Cancer clinics, with the ability to perform bedside small procedures and diagnostics. Specialist dizziness clinic interest. Assisting and performing a number of operations under supervision, with a comprehensive log book for review. Working on a full on-call rota covering emergency admissions and operating, as well as leading the junior doctor team during these periods. Other duties include being the SHO lead for the department. This includes the responsibility to ensure their pastoral, training and work needs are addressed and met, and communicated to senior members within and external to the department. The organisation of their rota, job plans and training timetables. Projects of note during this job has been the audit of all tonsillectomies performed within the department over the last 2 years and the re-writing of the tonsillectomy standard operating procedure for the region.
Working within a busy Head and Neck team, with duties in both MaxilloFacial & ENT. My main duties included seeing patients in Head & Neck Cancer clinics and working with the wider MDT to deliver care to these patients, attending Head & Neck cancer theatre lists as well as the Head & Neck Cancer weekly MDT. In addition, providing teaching & mentorship to Medical Students, Junior trainees (both Medical and Dental) and other Allied Healthcare Professionals.
Working within a busy Otolaryngology surgical unit. Duties included ward cover, ward rounds, clerking, on-call cover, emergency clinic, cross cover of MaxilloFacial, assisting in theatre, general ENT outpatient clinics and general ad-hoc duties. Other duties included performing intratympanic steroid injections for patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss and helping to facilitate the collaboration and cross-site working of the ENT department at Northampton General Hospital and Kettering General Hospital.
