About

Since young, I've always been fascinated by vehicles, being able to propel themselves seemingly with nothing more than a prod on the accelerator. Be it the high-pitched scream of a four cylinder motorcycle to the low clicking of a heavy commercial diesel, I'm always curious to find out what makes them tick, and the technologies that go towards improving them, whether the end goal is to make the vehicle safer, less polluting, reducing NVH, or simply faster. Similarly, I tinker with my RC cars to eke out every last bit of performance and apply new experimental ideas using it as a test bed. I believe that life is not about the destination, but the journey. With that, I have embarked on a journey to enrich myself with a greater knowledge of the world, and more specifically, logistics. Logistics has always been a fascinating topic to me, where it essentially forms the backbone of global trade, but yet the actual science in moving parcels around the world is lost on me. Thus, I am currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Business (Logistics and Supply Chain Management) at SIM-RMIT. I hope I will find the answers I am seeking, through this course, and eventually play a part in this industry.

  • Administrative Assistant at Everlasting Design and Contracts (Pte Ltd)

In this role, I was given multiple tasks to handle as an assistant. I occasionally had to schedule meetings, appointments and respond to queries over the phone and via emails. Also went down to the work sites to ensure the projects were in good shape and ready for handover to our clients. Did some minor touching up whenever possible. I learnt quite a bit on how renovation works are carried out, the kind of permits required to carry out such tasks, as well as the importance of good planning. Sometimes things dont go according to plan (supplier delays, weather), but we have to work around them to ensure timely handover and customer satisfaction.

As a small, family-run business, I was also appointed to help out with their other day-to-day operations. My time here was spent fruitfully as I came to understand how B2B suppliers operated, as well as unique industry challenges that the business has to navigate.

  • Logistics Assistant at DHL
    Aug 2016 - Oct 2016 · 3 mos

Carried out activities that helped the company to fulfil logistical demands from a major client, involving receiving of incoming shipments, distribution and sorting bulk items , and repacking for further outbound shipments. Also took stock and reported any disrepancies to my superior for further action. As I was just a fresh recruit, I was frequently moved between different department to help me gain a keener understanding of the company's operations at the warehouse. Moving around frequently also put me in a position to quickly build teamwork with my new colleagues, such that we could carry out our work with greater chemistry. While the time spent in this position was short, it was a very eye opening experience that provided a much deeper insight into how a global multinational logistics company operated, as to how such companies approach their inventory and supply chain management.
