The role builds on over five years of experience as Director of Community and Economic Development, where I led a system that integrated building, planning, and development services within the City of Arvada. The Director of Community and Economic Development oversees a work system that aligns the building, current planning, long range planning, development review, and economic development services of the City. The approach allows the City to better align customer needs and community vision with City services.
Responsible for the management and operations of city’s department of economic development, which includes: attracting and expanding quality businesses to Arvada that provide primary jobs for citizens and generates increased revenues for the city, and retaining businesses in Arvada. It is a goal of the Economic Development Department to create positive business environment.
Manage the day to day operations of the Arvada Economic Development Association including: Business retention and expansion program, business attraction (both retail and primary employment), financial assistance programs, and marketing. Help businesses with the entitlement process in the City.
Serve at the pleasure of a 17 member Board of Directors, which consists of private sector businesses in Arvada. The AEDA Board's mission is to provide business and commercial development services to new and existing businesses, so the business' can grow and expand to create jobs, increase revenues and make capital investments which enhance Arvada.
