Accountable for the ongoing planning and management of The City of Calgary’s facility portfolio, including acquisition, planning, investment, and disposition. Developed and implemented the Corporate Facility Planning & Delivery Policy and Framework to centralize planning and delivery of City Facilities. Accountable for the planning, stewardship, and optimization of The City of Calgary’s corporate facility portfolio, including asset acquisition, long-range planning, capital investment, and disposition. Led the development and implementation of the Corporate Facility Planning & Delivery Policy and Framework, establishing a centralized, enterprise-wide approach to planning, prioritization, and delivery of civic facilities. Directed a multidisciplinary team of ~20 professionals responsible for advancing facility planning, enabling corporate decision-making, and developing the facility portfolio management strategy and long-term investment plan. Sponsored and advanced a portfolio of complex facility projects ranging from $1M to $400M, with total sponsored investments of approximately $3B, ensuring alignment with service needs, technical feasibility, and funding strategies. Led corporate governance and stage-gating processes for facility development, overseeing capital planning and budget management of approximately $200M (2023–2026) to support informed, transparent investment decisions. Successfully transitioned the Integrated Civic Facility Planning Program into an operational division, establishing its mandate, governance, processes, and tools to support sustained delivery and organizational alignment.
The Corporate Facility Portfolio Plan is a single plan of all the building The City of Calgary will build, renovate, sell, demolish, lease and renovate over a 30-year period. The plan is intended to align with the Municipal Development Plan and the Calgary Transportation Plan and includes all services delivered by the City of Calgary. In alignment with the Corporate Facility Planning & Delivery Framework the plan is delivered through a collaborative cross corporate governance structure. Collaboration allows The City to look at facility demand and supply over the long-term (up to 30 years) and determine the best approaches to meeting service needs and ensuring facility assets are optimized for their best use and drive to citizen focused outcomes. This role is accountable for: - Facilitating collaborative governance - Driving planning to optimize the corporate facility portfolio - Leading the team that develops the Corporate Facility Portfolio Plan - Knowledge management of facility planning files - Developing and updating corporate facility portfolio strategies - Facilitating collaborative planning across service lines - Integrating facility planning with other city planning and transportation planning - Developing policy’s pertaining to corporate facilities - Coordinating planning across all portfolio space types.
- Coordinated 40 construction, renovation projects from start to finish, projects involved communicating with corporate clients, suppliers, contractors, and consultants. Projects with budgets up to $8,000,000, including additions and major renovations to schools. - Coordinated upwards of 30 life-cycle capital reinvestment projects at a given time across the portfolio of 80 buildings. - Developed and implemented a new document management system including file hierarchy, document naming standards and compliance guidelines. - Developed and implemented a new CAD drawing standard including both digital and printed standards with, layers, line weights, storage, and naming. Project included hiring a staff member to execute conversion. - Team member of a project that drafted a new supplemental conditions for the corporation’s standard CCDC2 contracts. - Developed and implemented new project management tools and templates to achieve a greater level consistency and reporting. - Conducted future capital maintenance planning using ReCAPP software, consultants and expert opinions including created business cases for budget requests.

- Coordinated over 25 move management projects involving creation and implementation of move plans and change communications plans, relocating furniture assets, and relocating business units between buildings. These projects involved anywhere between 5 and 50 staff. - Coordinated 5 to 10 small to medium construction, renovation projects from start to finish as a facilities management representative, projects involved communicating: corporate clients, suppliers, contractors, and consultants. - Consulted effectively with corporate clients to understand business function, assess functional needs and design functional plans to meet business needs.
