Russell Harrison has a Master of Māori and Indigenous Leadership(with Distinction) and is currently engaged in the pursuit of his PhD with the University of Canterbury, focused on Māori Fatherhood. His passions include Music (released artist on Spotify) Broadcasting (Lotto Presenter 2002-2013) Acting, Singing and Entertaining. He is also proud to be the Master of Ceremony for the Federation of Māori Authorities since 2014. He is an advocate for Māori entrepreneurialism, leadership and innovation and believes that all of the solutions to our societal issues lie within the knowledge streams of our Tupuna (ancestors).

As Senior Projects Advisor I was enabled to have influence on a range of transformational projects. None brought me as much pride as the Head of School of Performing Arts and having influence on the look and feel of our yearly Prospectus.
Acting as a Regional Advisor to Head Office to help implement long reaching strategies that could enact positive change within the diverse realities of our Māori communities was humbling and taught me to never underestimate the potential of others.
A direct approach to Rongo Wetere allowed me to continue my relationship with TWOA, but now this time from Rotorua. I continued to utilise my marketing, community engagement and growing broadcasting experience to influence awareness of the many great things TWOA had to offer. Under the leadership fo Turi Nagtai & Jim Mctamney the whole experience was a great joy. I learned about passion, resilience, having fortitude in your beliefs and compassion for others.
