I had the privilege of shadowing experienced CRNAs at Duke University Hospital, gaining invaluable insights into the field of nurse anesthesia. During this experience, I observed: • Preoperative patient assessments and preparation. • Anesthesia administration and management across diverse surgical procedures. • Collaboration between CRNAs, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams in high-pressure environments. • Advanced monitoring techniques to ensure patient safety during anesthesia. This hands-on exposure deepened my understanding of the CRNA role, highlighting its critical impact on patient care and inspiring my continued pursuit of excellence in advanced nursing practice.

    • Swim Instructor
      Jun 2023 - Nov 2024 · 1 yr 6 mos

Diversability Swim Lessons is a program designed to teach individuals of all ages with special needs how to swim and gain comfort in the water. DSL swim instructors are required to teach these unique individuals how to swim, regardless of their physical and cognitive ability. Swim Instructors must write lesson plans based on each individual's diagnosis and needs, which may include visual or written cues, goal setting, frequent reinforcement, and possible problem-solving techniques. The instructor’s goal is to improve swimming skills, build confidence in the water, and teach personal safety in a way that will promote confidence, fun, and overall well-being.

    • Head Lifeguard

Tasks expected to be done by the Head Guard include checking the chemistry of the water, balancing it, and regulating it throughout the shift to ensure it meets the Health Department code. Head Guards must also open the pool and deck after conducting checks for hazardous pool conditions and close after the shift has ended. Head Guards are the first in line for emergencies and must lead and control the situation. They must maintain effective, positive relationships with members, participants, and other staff and address any questions, concerns, or issues that may arise. Lastly, Head Guards must model relationship-building skills in all interactions with regular, clear, and concise communication.

  • Founder and President of Hispanic Student Union at Self-employed
    Aug 2021 - Jun 2024 · 2 yrs 11 mos

In 2021, I created the Hispanic Student Union, becoming the first Hispanic club focused on community upliftment in Green Level High School's history since its opening in 2019. With an incredibly diverse student body, the Hispanic population makes up only 7% of the student body, which is 11% below the state average of 19%, making representation a challenge. Through the creation of HSU, a place of inclusivity, advocacy, and belonging was established. HSU was built on the pillars of 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝘾𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚, and these values have shaped everything we’ve done so far with the club. As of 2025, HSU is the only club at Green Level High School to be recognized by the Wake County Public School System and Wake Ed Partnership for its impactful work in the community. In the last three years, HSU has provided over 200 hours of community service opportunities and anticipates providing more as the club continues to grow. HSU has also been at the forefront of the Hispanic Representation Initiative. HSU has also assisted with organizing cultural events at Green Level, including quarterly cultural celebrations, Hispanic Heritage Month festivities, and members being on the multicultural board to ensure inclusivity. HSU also had the privilege of participating in a Diversity and Inclusion Panel in 2023, alongside other student organizations, where our members had the opportunity to express frustrations and offer advice on what staff members can do to be more inclusive, helping HSU achieve its goal of creating a more inclusive environment at Green Level. During my time as President of HSU, I started “Latinos 4 College,” which encouraged post-secondary planning and focused on providing access to resources necessary for success after high school. Through this initiative, we hosted various workshops, including resume writing and financial literacy.
