About

Hello there! I'm Andy, a Computer Scientist and Software Engineer specializing in Frontend and Backend development while also considerably versed in PostgreSQL and database performance. I'm a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer with 7+ years of experience in various industries, ranging from seed-stage SaaS startups to the largest media-tech company in Latam with over 100M users. Proven track record of working with Ruby on Rails, React, and NodeJS with Typescript and Golang building reliable and scalable software. I’m hugely motivated by building products that users love and that drive customers' success. I greatly enjoy working closely with product teams and even getting involved in customer interviews to understand their needs better and build products that solve their problems. Based in Brazil for the past decade, though originally from Spain, I currently work remotely. Feel free to reach out to me or explore my Github profile, although most (if not all) of my open projects are related to my Computer Science graduation tasks since my professional work has always been in private repos: https://github.com/Andy9822

  • Senior Software Engineer at Kit (formerly ConvertKit)
    Jan 2025 - Present · 1 yr 6 mos

Full-Stack Software Engineer at Kit: an email-first operating system born from ConvertKit’s evolution into an all-in-one creator platform. Kit empowers creators to own their audiences, automate growth, and monetize directly. As a member of the Builders squad, I mostly work on delivering customer-facing features: - Introduced Inertia.js into the project, delivering SPA‑style navigation across the app. By reducing full-page reloads and limiting payload sizes through partial updates, this optimization achieved approximately a 30% reduction in average route-change load time, resulting in noticeably faster navigation and enhanced user experience - Contributed in adding real‑time collaborative editing into Kit’s email editor by introducing a Hocuspocus integration: a websocket‑based backend built on the Y.js CRDT framework. This enabled multi‑user real-time editing without conflicts, offering scalable and resilient collaboration. - Member of the Activation Initiative, responsible for designing and executing A/B experiments aiming to improve user activation and/or reduce churn by iterating rapidly based on data-driven insights and performance metrics and statistics.

It also included database migrations to the PostgreSQL database - Responsible for monitoring the performance of the database by analyzing the most costly queries and adding indexes to boost the most accessed tables and data; or even refactoring whole queries - Upgraded the GraphQL library (Relay JS) through multiple major versions to reach its hooks version, which allowed the company to introduce frontend tests to the UI components.
