He works closely with each of the corporate officers and directors to identify, advise and manage legal/business issues and risks to the company and its respective groups. Rui is responsible for developing and implementing the corporate legal and real estate strategy at SPS and assisting in the development and implementation of the corporate policies and the corporate compliance program. As an attorney with over a decade of both legal and business leadership experience at global technology organizations and as a successful entrepreneur in the aviation industry, Rui brings a diverse set of skills and experience to SPS to successfully lead the legal team and serve as a trusted advisor to the company, its officers and directors. Prior to joining SPS, Rui served as corporate counsel for Konica Minolta’s multi-billion dollar operations in North and South America in cooperation with its various affiliates in Europe and Asia. Rui has also served on the board for the Colorful Tomorrow Foundation, a national charity organization assisting children in disadvantaged communities across the U.S. Also, prior to joining SPS, Rui co-founded a startup private aviation company out of Teterboro, N.J., and in his eight years as principal shareholder, led its successful growth and operations into three continents. Prior to that, Rui litigated for a private legal services organization in New York. Rui earned a B.S. from Seton Hall’s School of Diplomacy and International Relations, an M.B.A. from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College and a Juris Doctorate from the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center at Touro Law.
