As an architect and project manager, my career is shaped by a singular, unifying principle: the intentional design of environments to enhance human well-being and interaction. While one hat involves the tangible crafting of physical spaces, the other is dedicated to the strategic development of digital learning ecosystems. In my architectural practice, I am driven by the psychology of space—understanding how functional, contextual, and aesthetic elements can stimulate the senses and shape a user's experience. I believe in the power of design to foster healthier living and inspire connection, whether through the integration of nature or the careful orchestration of form and light. This approach of meticulous, user-centric design extends directly into my role as Project Manager at the Abdulla Al Ghurair Hub for Digital Teaching and Learning at AUB. Here, my focus shifts from building structures to constructing platforms. The same principles of creating a seamless, intuitive, and effective environment apply to digital spaces. I lead the development of complex digital learning initiatives, ensuring that every component is designed to promote well-being, engagement, and efficient learning for the global community. My two professional worlds are deeply intertwined. The discipline of managing complex architectural projects has honed my skills in leadership, problem-solving, and detail-oriented execution. These are the same qualities I bring to leading cross-functional teams and navigating the challenging, high-pressure environments of digital innovation. • General Management & Oversight: Evolved role beyond traditional project management to encompass a General Manager scope. Oversee the entirety of the Hub's operations, ensuring seamless execution of all academic and digital initiatives, streamline budget tracking, and cross-functional collaboration. • Strategic Leadership: Lead the development of Hub strategies and set annual and quarterly targets, playing a pivotal role in defining and achieving the unit's long-term vision. • Team Leadership: Manage and provide leadership to a cross-functional team of 16, including direct oversight of the marketing and recruitment teams, driving their strategic objectives and performance, fostering a culture of innovation and agility. • Financial & HR Management: Responsible for the comprehensive handling of all Human Resources and Financial matters pertaining to the Hub, ensuring budget adherence and resource optimization. • Stakeholder Relations: Manage all internal and external reporting, serving as the primary lead for critical communications with the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF), Faculty, and AUB central units. • Design & Event Oversight: Leverage architectural background to provide design input on Hub events and marketing materials, enhancing the aesthetic and functional quality of the Hub's public-facing initiatives.
Lead Architect • Design projects across all phases from pre-design & conceptual design through construction drawings to as-built documentation • Ensure projected architectural designs are functional, contextual, and environmental while meeting the client’s expectations • Develop a smooth constructive line of communication between the client and the design team • Produce project renderings and CGIs • Apply knowledge of relevant building laws & regulations regarding the design of projects • Manage small to medium sized projects, form relationships and coordinate design decisions with consultants, engineers, and contractors • Prepare and issue work schedules, deadlines, and task assignments for team members • Specify the nature and quality of materials needed • Select materials and coordinate with suppliers as per design specifications • Ensure building projects are completed within budget and on schedule • Understand all aspects of design and procurement processes • Prepare project proposals, negotiate contracts and fees, and coordinate bidding process • Complete execution works of ID packages with follow up • Constant on-site coordination and visits to ensure compliance with design drawings and intentions • Possess an excellent track record of decision making in uncertain conditions with a bias for action
• Handles administrative and financial reports • Team Management Achievements A. ‘’A Roadmap for the Creation of Heritage Buildings Inventory in Lebanon” • Funded by World Monument Fund (WMF) • Managed a team of 3 architects/researchers, GIS expert, comparative study expert, clusters expert during the different stages of the project: Field work, data collection, surveying app use, survey design and QGIS data conversion. • Report compilation and Layout Design • Coordination with the funding party, DGA, and all respective involved personnel B. “Connected with Each Other, History/Memory, and Architecture/Place” • Funded by International Relief Fund 2021-Goethe Institute • Managed a team of 5 database researchers and operators, a web programmer and social media expert. • Coordination with the funding party C. “A Journey into Architecture Archives: Beirut, Cairo, Rabat” • Funded by Sharjah Architecture Triennial and curated by Dr. George Arbid • Highlights three institutions in the Arab world that hold and preserve architecture archives, shedding light on the rich history and contributions of architects to modern architecture. •Coordinated the deliverables between the 3 countries, supervised the model making process, and managed the team of architects, interns, local and remote researchers.
