Responsible for supporting equity and climate adapation efforts in Risk Analysis branch of mitigation planning within the states of Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and Idaho, and among the 260+ Tribal Nations in the region. Duties include analyzing and communicating the overlay and discrepancy of resources vs. needs; providing technical assistance and guidance to Federal, State, Tribal, and local partners in mitigation strategies through planning to reduce vulnerability to future natural hazards; documenting and communicating best practices for social, environmental, and economic costs and benefits; understanding and communicating ways to incorporate climate change and equity considerations into hazard mitigation planning; educating on opportunities to integrate natural hazards into various regulatory and investment mechanisms; and communicating the nexus of mitigation planning with other FEMA grant and assistance programs. Served as co-Chair of the Region's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessiblity Committee.
Mediated small claims (and civil harassment) cases in the California court system. Earned Lead Mediator certification in July 2021.
Supported public sector clients in California and beyond on a variety of urban water planning topics, including resilience and adaptation, water reuse, stormwater management, green infrastructure, and water markets. Served as staff for California Urban Water Agencies, a non-profit organization.
Environmental, water planning, and economic feasibility projects include innovative model and policy development for onsite, decentralized wastewater reuse; green infrastructure incentives strategy and financial recommendations for private parcel owners; economic feasibility analysis and market demand for greenfield site in Latin America; cost-benefit analysis for flood resilience; real estate analysis revealing recommendations for highest and best use of property at two large airports in Latin America; and development impact fee nexus study.
