Head of Group Financial Control at TBAuctions, the largest European industrial online auctioning platform. Part of the Group Finance management team, big-four background (5 yrs. audit / 5 yrs. consulting). Experienced with IPO's/secondary listings, private equity, covenants finance, purchase price allocation, consolidation, financial side of acquisitions, post-merger integration (Finance, IT, People), ERP implementation (AFAS, LucaNet, Twinfield, Exact), internal/external reporting, tax (transfer pricing, CIT) and managing financial teams.
TBAuctions is a €1.6 billion revenue PE-backed tech company that develops its own auctioning platform. Sellers & buyers are connected in +30 countries for a wide range of (industrial) products. Its ambitious growth plan is combined with a beautiful sustainable focus. At TBAuctions I'm a Finance Director being responsible for Reporting, Accounting & Tax, and heading the Group team for these domains. Responsible for post-merger integrations, financial reporting, consolidation, tax (corporate tax, transfer pricing, VAT), and acquisition accounting (PPA's, DD's, GAAP differences).
Responsible for the financial post merger integration of AcconAVM Groep (>€75 mln. revenue) and Astrium (>€7 mln. revenue) in Flynth. Responsibilities include: - Purchase Price Allocation - Harmonization of financial accounting - Integration of financial processes from Accon/Astrium in Flynth - Managing the allocation of roles & responsibilities of previous Accon/Astrium team members within Flynth - Integration of IT systems Was involved with the financial side of the design and implementation of a new ERP package (AFAS) for the combined businesses of Accon, Astrium and Flynth. Due to short timelines (<8 months) and three different IT legacy systems (AFAS/Twinfield/Muis) the ERP implementation was particularly challenging. On a daily base managed the financial control team (10 FTE) comprising of GL accountants, credit controllers and financial controllers. Responsibilities comprise of internal and external reporting, consolidation, insurance, bank financing and internal control.
Responsible for external reporting related matters, financial integration of AcconAVM Group (PPA accounting, accounting principles harmonization, Finance IT integration) and financial side of ERP package implementation
Managed teams (+/-5 people) for consulting engagements focused on Initial Public Offerings (Euronext and Nasdaq), IFRS, finance transformation (regulatory, digital), and Financial Services consulting (insurers, banks, asset managers). The combination of a strong numerical analytical mind with a mindset focused on delivering results made Ruben a valued consultant for his clients.
Part of the Finance team of the EY Performance Improvement practice in the Netherlands (consulting) with a clear focus on Financial Services (banks, insurers, asset managers). Served as a trusted adviser on a large range of Finance Transformation engagements being responsible for process optimization, financial analytics, target operating models and large scale finance transformations driven by, among others, regulatory change.
Served as the team lead on audit teams (ranging from 4 to 12 people) at large financial sector players, mainly in the field of (private) wealth & asset management and insurance. Both private and public companies were part of his client portfolio. Was responsible for delivery of high quality audits in challenging circumstances. Combining client stakeholder management with the required level of a professional critical attitude (objectivity) made Ruben a valuable addition to the team. During client engagements Ruben conveyed a coaching leadership style. He gets motivated by facilitating a team to excel during challenging circumstances.
Participated in the board of the study association for accountancy students at Nyenrode. Fulfilled the role of treasurer (1 year) and lead the event committee (almost 2 years). Together with a team of enthusiast students I organized the 5-year anniversary event of the study association (budget: 40K). Besides, I was responsible for organizing social events and informing upcoming students and starters about the opportunities in the accounting & auditing sector during the university's orientation days.
