I have a B tech degree (4year degree) in chemical engineering and a B tech degree (4Year degree) in analytical chemistry. The degrees were completed at the Vaal University of Technology. I have 19 years chemical plant operations experience. These include 4 years process controller experience, 4 years experience as chemical/process technician, 1 year commissioning engineer, 4 years’ chemical engineer/technologist experience and 6 years’ experience as a scientist. Experience gained during that period includes: project work, equipment rating, plant commissioning, working on DCS (delta V, Rosemount), trouble shooting and problem solving, HAZOPS, plant operations: working with pumps, distillation columns, heat exchangers, cooling towers, waste water treatment, filters, reactors, plant safety equipment, work permit system, pressure vessels, taking and analyzing of samples, working with contractors, project managing a onsite laboratory. I see myself as an ambitious, creative and committed person. I have good problem solving skills. I seek to attain high standards in my work. I can learn new plant technologies fast because of my solid plant operation knowledge and experience
Responsibilities: Provide chemistry support to the PVC plant, product quality assurance, monitoring of autoclave performance, customer complaints, optimisation, problem solving, development of plant monitoring tools, recipe development, raw material forecasting, standby duties.
Responsibilities: I was responsible for establishing an onsite laboratory for the Chlorine plant that included the design, project management and commissioning of the laboratory project. Providing laboratory support, writing of analytical procedures, training of analyst and ensuring laboratory results are reliable. Provide ongoing chemistry support for the Chlorine plant. Skills gained during this period was experience in the recruiting of personnel for the laboratory, involvement in ISO accreditation, project management, laboratory experience and Chlor alkali technology.Dealing with customer complaints.
Responsibilities: Plant optimisation, projects and modifications using MOC system, concept studies, downtime analysis, HAZOPS, trouble shooting, ensuring consistency regarding product quality. Doing standby duties for control group and performing DetlaV standby duties. This period also include a period of 7 months rotation to the Cyanide plant where I did problem solving.
I was responsible for the commissioning of the cooling tower/water system, steam and condensate system, hotmelt and side arm extruder, utility water system for reactor and other utilities. Working in a commissioning team. Working according to commissioning plan to achieve goals within given deadlines. Skills gained during that period: Problem solving. I was responsible for the cooling water system (cooling tower and heat exchangers), steam and condensate, waste water treatment plant and effluent water. I did investigations and modifications to optimize the plant. I had to do process optimisation. Chemical cleaning of plant equipment. Downtime analysis and production loss booking. Laboratory assistance. Skills gained during this period: Knowledge in cooling water, steam and waste water treatment. Understanding of process operations and modifications. Good understanding of the operation of plant equipment: distillation towers, pumps, valves, filters, heat exchangers, safety equipment. Good problem solving skills.
