I spent a total of five weeks in Edinburgh for a summer internship in High Performance Computing (HPC) with the University of Edinburgh (EPCC). The initial two weeks contained a training course around HPC, using Cirrus and the national supercomputer, ARCHER2. Dr Ludovic Capelli and other lecturers taught this. In the remaining three weeks of the internship, I carried out a research project supervised by Dr Paul Bartholomew. The project focused on Computational Fluid Dynamics, which benchmarked the compute time to calculate the scalar transport equation, discretised using the volume finite method on a given MESH. Overall, this was an honour to be invited to meet wonderful people. Enduring a great experience and an enjoyable time. In total, I learnt in depth on topics on parallel and distributed computing with modern concepts in C/C++.
