Hands on manager and developer within a relatively new digital team within Unipart Logistics. My projects involve developing systems to optimize productivity within the business, working closely with internal clients. My focus within the team is to encourage and develop capabilities in automatic testing, continuous integration, and agile methodologies, maximizing the team effectiveness.
At geo, my primary focus was on the delivery of the company's connected home products. I managed the operations of a highly multidisciplinary team developing the in-home components' firmware, server software, web app, and native apps for iPhone and Android. Working alongside project managers, I encouraged the company's strong customer-centric prioritization of product features within an Agile development methodology.
Built and technically managed a new team of app developers within Accenture Mobility. Created and deployed the mobile platform strategy for the team which involved technology choices, optimized recruitment, training, and project resourcing against client demand for apps on the several mobile phone operating systems. A new and proven capability based on web-based cross-platform app development was created. This enabled the development of apps for clients more cost-effectively and with rapid time-to-market. During this period I managed both internal and external projects, often involving overseas teams. Considerable effort went into leading and mentoring a growing team. I also contributed by delivering basic Android app development training. Activities included: • Analyzing requirements, designing, estimating and costing proposed client projects • Resourcing app development teams • Delivering or organizing app development training • Defining internal projects • Managing internal and external projects • Working closely with overseas development teams • Presenting team capabilities to clients • Team budgeting and planning
During this brief period within Nokia, work continued on the design and implementation of new user interface platforms and operating systems for smartphones.
As a member of Symbian's Technical Consulting team, I worked almost entirely with Nokia Mobile Phones, leading the Symbian Series 60 User Interface team throughout this role. • Team Lead & UK Project manager for Nokia 7650 User Interface development • Liaison between Nokia UI team and management and Symbian • Symbian Team Lead for Nokia Series 60 UI component development • Primary Symbian consultant into the Nokia Series 60 Platform User Interface • Principal architect on several new Series 60 components • Analyzing Nokia requirements for UI for architectural impact on Symbian • Providing consultancy and prototypes for the port of Qt onto Symbian OS
