Industry Data Analytics and Platforms
• Traveled and lived abroad in 20+ countries. • Volunteered at overseas NGOs: repaired and unlocked donated hardware/electronics for underprivileged children, taught Math/English to different age groups, implemented SQL based tool to track donor/volunteer/victim data, etc. • Worked as a Remote Back-end Software Consultant for multiple clients/projects
• Scaled team by actively working with recruiters/agencies (developers, testers, data scientists). • Mentored team members to encourage professional and technical growth. • Successfully shipped final software release of C++ based machine learning software module which was integrated into several car models (2018 - 2020). The software module, a part of Mercedes-Benz's first touch screen infotainment system, offers users the ability to select action predictions in the User Interface. These action predictions are provided to the UI by our software module and include actions such as navigating to a destination, calling someone, switching media sources, and tuning to a radio station.
• Took on a technical lead role among 4-5 developers for two back-end C++ software modules designed for future infotainment systems that would train/predict user actions, given a context (phone calls, route guidance to a destination, or changing media source or radio station). • Scaled development team and took on a primary role in the hiring/interviewing process, working with internal/external recruiters. • Attended frequent integration workshops at the Mercedes-Benz HQ in Stuttgart, Germany to collaborate with other global software teams to develop future in-car infotainment software. Integrated full atlassian toolchain into our software development process (JIRA, Confluence, Stash, Bitbucket, Crucible, Artifactory). • Enforced and participated in code review to ensure our team lived the process that we created. • Collaborated with Project Manager to ensure requirements were implemented/tested according to spec. • Implemented custom utils such as a custom threadpool (process incoming events, triggers, and service function callbacks) in codebase. • Integrated with other software components using an apache thrift based IPC protocol to run on an ARM64 based Linux hardware platform.
• Implemented back-end infotainment service to offer predicted destinations the user may want to navigate to. • Collaborated with machine learning team to port algorithms from python to C++ for optimal performance on target head-unit hardware. • Collaborated with data team to extract/analyze fleet vehicle user data to validate/test algorithm accuracy. • Setup/Maintained Jenkins continuous integration server used for dev/release builds and test reports. • Utilized atlassian tools to follow agile SCRUM methodology and a test-driven development approach.
• Implemented full stack of a prototype ride-sharing android app that was similar to Uber/Lyft • Back-end: Google AppEngine, Cloud Datastore/Endpoints, SQLite, Async tasks for server updates • Added localization/multilingual support • Integrations: GCM (Google Cloud Messaging) for p2p communication, Google Places API (JSON) for auto-complete suggestions, PayPal OAuth 2.0 for payment authorization, Google Maps API to display driver/passenger locations.
