Worked for nearly 20 years at Teignbridge Propellers International, Dubai. Responsible for Sales and Marketing of the company's products and services. Dedicated to Marine Equipment and Systems with an emphasis on marine propulsion and related systems. Also involved in the design and selection of appropriate equipment that met specific customer requirements. Firsthand experience and exposure in the design, selection, sales and service of various marine propulsion, cargo and ancillary equipment.
My duties included doing various design calculations such as hydro-static, trim and stability, strength, capacity, tonnage inclining experiments etc. to meet various classification and registration authorities requirements, Preparation of proposals for Design / Modification / Conversion / of marine and offshore structures and systems to suit customer demands, Preliminary scope of work estimation, material take off, Preparation of bill of materials with Labour and material cost Estimation and preparation of Technical and Commercial bids, Project scheduling, Co-ordination, setting of material specifications and supervision, and dealt with various marine classification societies like Lloyds, ABS, DNV, etc.
Started as a Naval Architect in the Design department. I was the Design Department Section Head from 1987 till resigning. The company is specialized in the Design and construction of medium and small marine floating crafts such as Tugs, Deep Sea Trawlers, Ferries, Speed Boats, Patrol Crafts, Coasters, and Tankers etc. My responsibilities included Preparation of conceptual design / drawings to meet tender specs, bill of material, cost estimation, preparation of detailed designs, calculations, structural and mechanical construction drawings as per Lloyds, London / ABS, New York / Indian Register of Shipping, Bombay, standards and requirements, Preparation of statutory plans / calculations such as Tonnage, Load line, Safety plans etc. per ICTM 1969/SOLAS 1974-83/ICLL 1966/ National regulations, Attended various tests and trials including inclining experiments, dock trials, sea trials and prepared stability booklets, trial data reports etc. Supervision and assisted quality control during production.
