In December 2016, I walked away from FireEye's detection engineering role and Google's job offer in the Bay Area to pursue my calling - build advanced cyber capabilities for GovTech to enable our Singapore Government to securely unlock new and ambitious Smart Nation initiatives. Now, I am serving the Singapore Government at a broader level. Double hatting as a Director in both GovTech and CSIT, I focus on researching disruptive cyber innovations, pushing new boundaries through cybersecurity strategies and policies, uplifting cyber capabilities for the Whole-Of-Government, deepening engineers' cyber capabilities, and delivering contextualised cyber platforms. On the front of cyber research, I am working towards eliminating rudimentary cyber and governance job roles by equipping our software developers, product managers, and public officers with additional cyber capabilities and tools. These tools free up the capacity of our precious cyber specialists to focus on solving more challenging cyber problems. At GovTech and CSIT, I am blessed to work with the brightest and most motivated cyber engineers. Working with them is a joy, continually exploring new blue oceans and encouraging each other to learn new technologies. I am a cyber leader fueled by driving initiatives that unlock new digitalisation opportunities. I have experience driving forward-looking strategy and policies, cyber engineering, and stakeholder engagements and delivering impact at the Government and National level and within private industries and cyber communities. I have attracted diversified talents and built more than five engineering departments from the ground up in GovTech and FireEye. Multiple new initiatives were driven together with these dedicated teams. For example, securing SingPass and Trace Together initiatives, delivering CloudScape and SEED platforms, initiating Government bug bounty programmes, and researching "Anyhow Code Also Secure".
