"Building cleantech highways to the market" Ron Bloemers has over 25 years of full circle, hands-on experience and network in the global renewables/cleantech industry, within the broader context of global energy/cleantech markets, from the level of early stage cleantech startups to the top management level of large international corporations on a global playing field. Ron has proven examples of cleantech scaleups that he trained/coached/mentored to global success (as from their early stages) in a bilateral coaching/mentoring relationship. Ron is the founder and managing partner of START-U-UP, a boutique, private, MBA quality, (online) cleantech business accelerator based in Amsterdam. He has designed and implemented the curriculum for advanced cleantech scaleups in stage 3 of the EIT Climate-KIC Accelerator Program (as per end of 2020, Europe’s largest cleantech business accelerator, with 1,800+ startups & scaleups incubated/accelerated throughout Europe and €1.5 billion+ raised in investment by these startups & scaleups). Ron is also a driving force in the ClimateLaunchpad as of its foundation in 2014 (ClimateLaunchpad is the world’s largest green business ideas competition. Ron is a frequent international keynote speaker and he frequently trains/mentors/advises corporate & government & university top executives, startup coaches as well as startups all over Europe and beyond. For 12 years, Ron served as a renewable energy & climate change expert at McKinsey & Company. His responsibilities included serving existing clients and developing new clients on a European and global scale, leading/training/coaching McKinsey client service teams on a European and global scale, and a worldwide responsibility for knowledge development in renewables under McKinsey’s Practice Leadership. Prior to McKinsey & Company, Ron was an early pioneer in corporate sustainability, ESG, sustainable finance & accounting, and LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) at the Institute for Environmental Control Science (Economic Faculty, University of Amsterdam), the Institute for Applied Environmental Economics (The Hague), and Unilever. Ron holds a Msc. in Business Economics (specializations in corporate finance and environmental management), and a Bsc. in Physical Education.
