I was appointed by the Board of the Riyadh Schools in July 2012 to lead the transformation of the Riyadh Schools into one of the highest performing schools in the Middle East. The Riyadh Schools comprises eleven separate schools with over 3,400 students and 780 staff. I have been working with staff and the Boston Consulting group to formulate a strategy that will play out over the next few years. The focus will be on providing all students with access to a high quality educational experience working with expert teachers and engaging with an intellectually rigorous curriculum. This project is on the one hand exciting and on the other very challenging as we attempt to engage all members of the school community in this very important work.
Ron Lake gained an international reputation as gifted leader in the public education sector and as a dynamic advocate of change in the education sector. He led significant initiatives on the use of computer based learning technologies to support student learning, the creation of innovative design concepts for schools and using data to improve student learning.
Ron Lake was the Regional Director of the Loddon Mallee Region. Mr Lake was appointed to this position in 2005 and has led a significant transformation of the region since that time. He was responsible for leading the work on improving the educational outcomes of the 39,000 students who attended the 166 schools spread across the most geographically dispersed of the nine regions in Victoria. His work has been recognised internationally as educators from many parts of the world seek his advice on the challenges inherent in improving the performance of schools.
As the lead in the Innovations Branch, Ron Lake managed two of the Victorian Government’s key flagship strategies – Creating and Supporting a Performance and Development Culture and The Leading Schools Fund.
Ron Lake was the inaugural Director of the Australian Science and Mathematics school, s specialist science and maths school located on the grounds of Flinders University. The school led the way in experimental school design, curriculum and teaching and learning innovation.
