About

Romain Huet is a French entrepreneur and engineer with a passion for developer platforms. He currently leads Developer Experience at OpenAI, inspiring and supporting founders and builders to integrate AI into their applications, and directing the creation of elegant and powerful tools for all developers. Previously, Romain spent five years at Stripe, leading product management for the developer platform and overseeing global developer relations. Before Stripe, he helped with the relaunch of Twitter’s developer platform and co-founded Jolicloud in Paris, where he developed a cloud-based operating system and the Jolibook, a personal computer.

      Transitioned to the newly created Product organization led by our CPO. • Led product for Stripe’s overall developer experience, encompassing all the touchpoints developers go through from the moment they sign up to running their business live on the platform. • Introduced brand new Stripe developer products on stage with live demos at Stripe events alongside the leadership team, including Issuing, Terminal, Payouts, and Identity. Partnered with all the product leaders and engineering managers, and acted as the customer zero of their developer products to get the products ready for launch. • Launched a redesign of Stripe’s developer documentation to make it more personal and better guide users within our expanding platform, a cross-functional effort with all PMs and stakeholders. • Interviewed dozens of developers and leaders to constantly gather feedback and keep tabs on what Stripe could do to further help them build and grow their businesses. • Spoke each year at Convergence, Stripe’s internal conference, to demo prototypes of not-yet-released products to the company, such as an early version of what was launched in 2022 as Tap To Pay on iPhone.

      Joined Stripe late 2015 to build and lead global developer relations. • Led product efforts to raise the bar on Stripe’s developer onboarding. Redesigned Stripe’s documentation, helped build new developer abstractions such as Apple Way for the Web, and launched a new Developer Dashboard. • Built a dozen of flagship demos to demonstrate how to build a business on Stripe, including a marketplace, a SaaS, a pop-up store accepting in-person payments, and live coding them on stage to showcase the simplicity of Stripe. • Co-created Stripe Sessions with the Marketing team, a series of users events to showcase the Stripe platform. Keynote speaker at all the events in San Francisco, New York, London, Paris, and Stockholm. • Helped launch Stripe in a dozen new countries, including France, Germany, Benelux, Singapore, and Japan. • Partnered with the Corp Dev team on investments and acquisitions, integrating teams like RunKit within Stripe as well as the Index team which became Stripe Terminal.

    First member of Twitter’s Developer Relations internationally. • Built relationships and trust with countless entrepreneurs and developers across the globe, and inspired them to build on the Twitter Platform. Performed engaging live demos on APIdays, API Strategy conferences, such as flying drones and capturing photos from the audience sending Tweets to show the power of the Twitter APIs. • Part of the core product team launching Fabric, Twitter’s mobile developer platform, and Digits, a way for people to securely sign in to apps with their phone number rather than a password. Fabric combined the power of Crashlytics, Fastlane, MoPub, TwitterKit, and Digits in a single platform with an unprecedented developer experience for iOS and Android developers. • Core speaker on a worldwide developer tour in 2015, Twitter Flock, leading me to meet thousands of developers at events and conferences in dozens of cities across the US, Europe, and Asia. • Keynote speaker at Twitter Flight in San Francisco during Jack Dorsey’s keynote, where I built an iPhone app live on stage using a dozen of new features in under 15 minutes, including payments with Stripe and identity with Amazon Cognito, all the way to getting the app ready for the App Store. Fabric has since been acquired by Google and integrated within Firebase.
