As Director of Software Engineering, I lead four development teams: Backend, Frontend, Mobile, and Drive. My role is to support them in three key areas: - Technical vision and strategy - Organization and management - Delivery management Strategic and technical vision - Define and manage the technical roadmap, aligning the architecture and technological initiatives with production constraints and long-term business objectives. - Ensure the quality, robustness, and scalability of technical deliverables: maintainable code, scalable architectures, CI/CD, monitoring, and DevSecOps. - Ensure security and compliance with certification frameworks. Management and organization - Lead developers across our various products, fostering autonomy and responsibility. - Set clear objectives and provide the resources for growth and success. - Oversee recruitment and onboarding. - Provide structured mentoring and feedback. - Culture of documentation, security, testing, and traceability. Delivery Management - Implement and improve processes, including code quality standards, testing, deployment, and documentation. - Collaborate with the Product team to define the roadmap, assess feasibility, prioritize, and ensure feature delivery. - Foster coordination between technical and support teams. - Work with the Director of Infrastructure on maintenance, system architecture, and DevSecOps. - Collaborate with the QA team to ensure robust and reliable deliverables. - Oversee the platform by assisting DevOps/SysAdmin teams with CI/CD, on-premises deployments, monitoring, and architecture.
My leading frontend role evolved to an overall leading role (hands-on), under the supervision of the CTO. My key responsibilities were: - To lead the backend, frontend and mobile teams (up to 10+ developers) - Help with the conformance of key certifications for the company (ISO27K1, SecNumCloud) - Plan key backend refactorings to improve resilience and performancs - Improve platform observability using OpenTelemetry - Ensure product deliverables & conformance - Recruitment, onboarding and mentoring
My role evolved to a Lead Frontend Developer (hands-on), where I was responsible for : - Both the web frontend team (4 developers) and the mobile team (1 developer) - Structuring both teams with conventions, processes and documentation - Recruiting & onboarding developers in both teams - Organising the refactor of two mobile apps from native to Flutter - Analyzing the existing web app codebase to identify performance bottlnecks & technical debt - Planning key refactorings to improve maintenability & performances - Ensuring product deliverables & conformance - Helping the backend team on various issues
Technical direction for the Lukky product: - Mobile app redesign from NativeScript to Flutter w/ native iOS & Android plugins - DSL for describing animated templates, its Flutter execution engine w/ on-device recording capability - NestJS backend - Svelte showcase site and Flutter web app - Leading a team of 3 developers
Teaching (140h) to students from 1st to 4th year (notable courses: Testing, Network, UI programming, Graph theory, Web programming).
- Adaptive abstraction research project at the Modelling, Simulation and Design Lab (MSDL) focusing on: • Different adaptive abstraction techniques applied to agent-based modeling • Studying the best trade-off between simulation execution time and accuracy • A theoretical adaptive abstraction framework for executable models - Publications (4) in international conferences (MODELS, WinterSim).
