Betzdorf, Grevenmacher, Luxembourg
I am a Senior Manager, Solutions Engineering & Software Solutions Engineering at SES Satellites, the world's leading satellite operator, with over 16 years of experience in this role. I lead a heterogeneous core team of RF, network & cybersecurity, systems and software engineers that provides pre- and post-sales support and solutions to various business units and customers in the telecommunications industry. My mission is to deliver holistic solutions that consider operation, costs and schedule, performance, logistics, training and support, testing, production, and disposal, while ensuring the completion of contractually agreed-upon projects. I have successfully managed and executed multiple proposals and projects for commercial, government and institutional clients around the world, such as national governments, European commissions, and the European Space Agency (ESA). I have also contributed to the development of procedures and best practices that enhance the project management standards across the organization. I am passionate about leveraging my technical and business expertise to create innovative and customer-centric solutions that meet the evolving needs and challenges of the satellite and telecommunications market.
Through a strategic shift in our business ecosystem, SES TechCom S.A. refocused its efforts on the Governmental and Institutional sector, including entities like the European Union (EU), European Space Agency (ESA), and NATO. As the head of the Solution Engineering department, my primary responsibility was to navigate this transition effectively and ensure that initiatives spanning quantum communications infrastructure, GovSatCom, navigation, and emergency and disaster response aligned with our commitment to serving these critical institutions. This involved strengthening relationships and delivering tailored solutions to meet their distinctive needs. Our Solution Engineering team comprises diverse experts, including RF, network & cybersecurity, systems, and software engineers. This team is vital in handling numerous proposals and project implementations across SES business units. We provide comprehensive pre- and post-sales support and offer dedicated assistance to governments and institutions such as national governments, European commissions, and the European Space Agency (ESA). Our approach emphasizes holistic solutions, considering operation, cost, schedule, performance, logistics, training and support, testing, production, and disposal. We are committed to delivering on short-, medium-, and long-term projects as per contractual agreements, all while ensuring the satisfaction of both internal and external clients, adhering to set timelines and budgetary constraints.
As our customer portfolio expanded globally, the changing customer landscape required a significant improvement in health and safety protocols within our contracts. This shift, and the fact that our people, and thus their health & safety, are of the utmost importance to us, fueled my devotion, bolstered by my CGDIS diplomas and experience in emergency response. Internally, we concentrated on enhancing these processes within SES TechCom and created standards in collaboration with our SES TechCom Quality Assurance Team. My colleagues and I provided significant knowledge to the parent firm by working together and sharing experiences, allowing one of our SES TechCom employees to be appointed as the company's general safety officer. In partnership with the SES Safety Officer, I remain the primary point of contact for SES Techcom S.A. employees on health and safety issues. I continue to support and push for the development and implementation of solutions. My responsibilities also extend beyond Luxembourg to raising awareness of Health and Safety (H&S) and advocating changes for project implementation sites, both locally and worldwide.
In February 2023, following the departure of my colleague, I expanded my leadership responsibilities by assuming oversight of the Software Solution Engineering department. This role enhancement underscores my commitment to driving strategic initiatives and excellence across multiple critical areas of our organisation. As the Software Solution Engineering department head, my primary objective was to enhance the team's performance and readiness. This is crucial for improving our customer proposal projects and services in critical areas such as quantum communications infrastructure, GovSatCom, navigation, and emergency & disaster response. Achieving this involves forging stronger relationships and developing customised solutions tailored to these essential institutions' specific requirements. Our Software Solution Engineering team comprises talented software engineers with diverse expertise and experience levels. This team is essential in overseeing the software components of our holistic solutions that address every phase of the project lifecycle, including operations, costs, scheduling, performance, logistics, training, support, testing, production, and disposal. We are committed to meeting the needs of short-, medium-, and long-term projects as per our agreements, ensuring client satisfaction within the set timelines and budgets.
