The Information Expertise Centre (IEC) is the central hub where Open University staff can access services and support related to institutional data. Within the IEC, we offer a range of services including data provisioning, policy development, management reporting, dashboards, and a data science environment. The IEC succeeds our previous InfOUhub initiative, a program that over recent years consolidated critical data flows into a centralized data hub. The design of this data hub specifically leverages process mining techniques, placing the student at the heart of data-driven decision-making rather than focusing primarily on course offerings. Through process mining, we gain deeper insights into student behavior and educational pathways, enabling us to align our services effectively with the most flexible educational model in higher education. This student-centered approach distinguishes us from institutions employing traditional annual enrollment systems.
